Paul's Plant Pick of the Week: Coreopsis Threadleaf 'Sienna Sunset' (Tickseed)

In the genus of daisy-like flowers, Coreopsis is a great choice for the landscape. Most are not fussy about the soil they are planted in but Sienna Sunset Coreopsis do require full sun. 'Sienna Sunset' is a new variety, a sport of 'Creme Burlee'. The color adds interest to the border or the middle of the prennial garden or even in a mixed container. Just remember to remove it from the container and plant in the ground well before the ground freezes. Flower color is a beautiful orange overlaid with burnt sienna and fades to a rich salmon/peach color. You can plan on this color all summer long - remove spent blooms to promote repeat blooming. Goes perfect with coneflowers and the dark leaved heucheras (coral bells). Outstanding when planted in masses. 'Sienna Sunset'

Grows about 16 to 20'' in height and 35'' in width. Deer resistant but butterflies adore it. Let soil dry out before watering. Begick Nursery carries this variety and many other coreopsis starting at $15.99.
